EBA’s Work Programme for 2025 | DORA, AML Package

The European Banking Authority (EBA) published its Work Programme for 2025 (announcement, programme).
The EBA will lose certain AML/CFT powers to the new Authority for Countering Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (AMLA) and will start with supervision under the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) [*]:

2025 will mark the start of the EBA taking up its new responsibilities for the oversight of ICT-third-party service providers, as well as for the supervision of issuers of significant assetreferenced and e-money tokens. At the same time, with the new EU AML authority, AMLA, commencing its activities in 2025, the authority will ensure a smooth transfer of its specific AML-CFT related powers and mandates to the new authority on 31 December 2025. It will also put increased focus on innovation, consumers (incl. access to financial services).

Currently, financial institutions are communicating unsafely with customers, for example concerning the AML/CFT investigation. It is hoped that DORA will finally change this and that the EBA will take this into attention.
