According to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the undemocratic world government, discrimination and exclusion of non-profit organisations (NPOs) is not the logical consequence of the FATF-legislation (‘recommendations’) on anti-money laundering (AML) and countering of terrorism-financing (CTF).
On 10 July the FATF published the article FATF launches new procedure to address unintended consequences affecting Non-Profit Organisations. The article presents the measures as protecting non-profit organisations from criminal money, instead of honestly admitting that discrimination and exclusion of NPOs is an inherent consequence of the FATF rules.
In the article the FATF refers to new procedures that are set out in the following:
- The 2023 Universal Procedures (at paragraph 130(bis))
- The FATF 5th Round Procedures (at paragraph 136(bis))
- The 2022 Universal Procedures (at paragraph 55(bis))
- The FATF 4th Round Procedures (at paragraph 101(bis))
Earlier articles by the FATF on the same topic:
- 17 July 2024, Mitigating Unintended Consequences
- 16 November 2023, Best Practices on Combating the Abuse of Non-Profit Organisations
