The Committee on Civil Liberties (LIBE) of the European Parliament on Thursday 15 February 2024, 09.30 – 12.30 CET organises the a hearing on EU values (announcement). Follow the meeting live here.
On the first session:
The first session of the hearing will focus on ways to improve inter-institutional cooperation and enhance the upholding of the rule of law. It will feature:
- John Morijn (Fellow in Law and Public Policy, Princeton University)
- Balázs Dénes (Civil Liberties Union for Europe)
- Duro Sessa (Consultative Council of European Judges)
- Julie Majerczak (European Media association)
On the second session:
In a second session, participants will look at the existing toolbox and cooperation on the rule of law, including the annual rule of law report and the dialogue on the rule of law, with:
- Hadja Lahbib (Minister of Foreign Affairs, Belgian Presidency of the Council)
- Věra Jourová (Vice-President for values and transparency, European Commission)
- Sophie in ’t Veld (rapporteur for the annual rule of law report and DRFMG Chair)
