“How interoperable databases will boost Europe’s security” | Council of the EU

In today’s press release the Council of the EU announced that important regulations regarding European IT-systems have been adopted. The Council promises that easier information sharing will considerably improve security in the EU, allow for more efficient checks at external borders, improve detection of multiple identities and help prevent and combat illegal migration. All this while safeguarding fundamental rights.

Privacy organisations are worried that in future the IT-systems will be used for surveillance of whole the European population.
