The ‘Digital Green Certificate‘ (COVID certificate) that the European Commission introduced was supposed to make travelling in the EU easier for European citizens [*].
Currently this pass and national covid-passes in many countries are obligatory to enter certain areas that differ from country to country, excluding in practice non-vaccinated people (as it is not worth it to have yourself tested all the time). It is a peculiar measure, as vaccinated people are reported to just as likely pass on the virus to people in their environment as unvaccinated people (e.g. in this article).
As of 3 November, all people entering Parliament’s buildings in its three places will be requested to present a valid EU Digital COVID Certificate, including journalists. The EU Digital COVID certificate proves that a person is either fully vaccinated, has immunity after having recovered from COVID-19 or can show a recent negative PCR test result.
There are MEPs from different parties that don’t agree. It was already known on 20 October, as on that date a group of MEPs held a press conference.
Press conference of 28 October: “MEP’s stand up for our right to freedom after imposing Digital Green Certificate to enter Parliament“, published on the youtube channel of the European Parliament.
Press conference of 20 October, “MEPs press conference on the abusive use of Green Certificate“, with a press release on Facebook, published on the youtube channel of MEP Cristian Terheş.
The measures taken by the European Parliament show that fundamental rights are in danger in the EU.

The European Commission is creating EU Digital Covid Certificates (Digital Green Certificates) to facilitate safe free movement inside the EU during the COVID-19 pandemic. Digital Green Certificates or EU COVID-19 Certificates or EU Digital Covid Certificates will be valid in all EU Member States. Digital Green Certificates will be a digital proof that a person
* has been vaccinated against COVID-19, or
* received a negative test result, or
* has recovered from COVID-19.
